'Team Foundation' - Our Fund-Raising Challenge

Foundation celebrates its 10th Birthday in 2012. Rather than spend lots of money on 'vanity events', we decided that the best way to mark the occasion was to 'give something back'. We've set ourselves a huge challenge - To raise £20,000 for 'Together for Short Lives', the charity raising funds for terminally ill children.

Who are 'Together for Short Lives'?

Together for Short Lives
'Together for Short Lives' (formerly ACT) aim to ensure that all life-limited and life-threatened children, young people and their families have the best quality care and support from the moment of diagnosis, wherever they live and for as long as the need it.

Hearing the news that your child has a health condition that is life-threatening or that will shorten their life is devastating. It is a time when families need time, care, support and information.

They help children's palliative care professionals to deliver the best possible care to thousands of children, young people and their families each year. Their priorities are to:

  • Define and share best practice to enable the highest standard of children's palliative care
  • Support the development of sustainable children's palliative care services to ensure they meet the needs of children, young people and their families.

What are we doing?

The Foundation 'Team' (James, Gemma and all our staff) are undertaking a range of activities over the next 12 months. Plus, we hope that our lovely customers will join us too, and help us to raise money! Here's what has taken place, or is planned:

Sponsored Parachute Jump - 28th July 2012

Gemma (who's terrified of heights!) is jumping from 14,000ft in a tandem parachute jump, on 28th July 2012! We'll let her elaborate:

"I WILL do a tandem skydive from around 14000ft on 28th July 2012. As most of you who know me personally, you will know that I have an absolute fear of flying (used to be OK-ish but now cry from moment of seeing airport until landing -  I basically just avoid it at all costs). I have an even worse fear of heights (including escalators!) - took my son to ThinkTank in Birmingham and could not figure out a panic free way to descend, as clear glass lifts or scaffolding stairs where you can see 3 levels down....... I guess at least I won't see a spider at 14000ft!"

Mud Runner, Eastnor Castle - 21st October 2012

MuddyFancy joining us for a fun, hilarious, and very muddy event?

On 21st October 2012, Team Foundation will be joining hundreds of other teams of runners to tackle the muddiest, most scenic running challenge!

Running on the tracks used by Land Rover to test their vehicles, the very muddy course runs around the beautiful Eastnor Castle estate in Herefordshire (near Ledbury). We urgently need people to join us, and help us to raise money. It should be a great event. More details
